For most of the years I’ve been buying precious metals, my approach was pretty simple.
Just stacking.
If the weight was good and the price was right, I was happy.
But one afternoon I stopped by a coin shop when both gold and silver had pulled back a little that month, planning to pick up the usual things I buy.
That’s when I noticed something I had somehow never seen before.
2-ounce silver coins.
They had a few of them sitting in the case, each one with a completely different design. Not the usual government coins or basic rounds… these looked more like little pieces of art pressed into silver.
I didn’t even look at them that closely at first. I was mostly just excited to discover something new.
I took all 5 of the 2-ounce coins, added it to the other things I was already buying, and headed home.
When I Got Home
It wasn’t until I got home and actually sat down with the coin that I really noticed it.
The coin read:
“Spreading Debt and Death.”
I was creeped out.
For a moment I just sat there looking at it thinking… what exactly did I just buy?
The design had the all-seeing eye, the eagle, splashes of detail everywhere. It was intense, almost a little dark. For a split second I honestly wondered if I had picked up something weird that had somehow made its way into the shop.
I even thought about bringing it back.
So I Called the Coin Shop
Curiosity got the better of me, so I called the coin shop and asked about it.
The guy immediately knew the coin I was talking about and told me it was actually a pretty popular design from a series collectors follow.
So naturally I went online and started digging around a little more.
That’s when I realized something I hadn’t really noticed before.
There’s a whole side of the precious metals world where people aren’t just stacking silver for the ounces.
They’re collecting it for the designs.
Oh, it’s artsy!

Up until that point, silver had mostly been practical for me.
Weight. Price. Ounces.
But this coin made me pause and look at it differently.
The design had depth. The relief was detailed. There was clearly an idea behind it, even if the message was a little dark.
It felt less like a generic piece of bullion and more like a small sculpture made out of silver.
That’s when it clicked for me.
Some of these 2 ounce silver coins aren’t just coins.
They’re little pieces of metal art.
A Different Kind of Silver and What I’m Looking For…
Since then, I still buy the usual things…
But now when I walk into a coin shop, I always take a second look at the pieces that are a little different.
You know what I’d love to find now and what I’m really after in terms of collecting – FEMIMINE COINS!
They are not easy to find… turns out the precious metal space doesn’t have a lot of femininity in it but, if you know where I can get more feminine coins or artistic pieces, please contact me and send me the info!
