Every once in a while, I like to share the pieces that are actually catching my attention.
Not everything I see. Just the ones that make me pause for a second.
Sometimes it’s because the price looks good. Sometimes it’s because the design is interesting. And occasionally it’s just because a piece feels like something fun to have in a stack.

I’ve been stacking for about twelve years now, and after a while you develop a preference for the things you feel worth picking up when you see them.
So here are a few pieces that have been on my radar lately.
1. A Simple 1-Ounce Gold Coin
Sometimes the most satisfying thing to buy is also the simplest.
A clean one-ounce gold coin — something recognizable like a Maple Leaf, Eagle, or Britannia — is still one of my favorite ways to add gold.
There’s something about holding a full ounce that never really gets old.
When prices are reasonable and premiums aren’t crazy, these are always high on my list.

2. A Silver Coin With Personality
Silver has always been the metal that lets you have a little fun.
There are so many interesting designs now that collecting them almost turns into a hobby inside the hobby.
Right now I’ve been looking at pieces that are a little more artistic — coins that have some detail to them instead of just a blank round.
Silver is where I’m more likely to pick up something just because I like it.

I’ve always liked the two-ounce silver coins because they are usually more fun in terms of art. The extra size lets the artwork stretch out a bit. A lot of the pieces I end up choosing come down to uniqueness. If something looks a little different from the usual rounds and standard bullion designs, that’s usually enough to get my attention. Silver is where I let myself collect a little more visually, and the two-ounce pieces are often where the most interesting designs show up.
3. A Show-Off Piece
Every once in a while I like something that’s just a little dramatic.
A larger coin, a high-relief design, or something with a really polished finish that catches the light, or even just a big expensive piece of metal in a unique shape or design.
Not necessarily something I’d buy ten of — but the kind of piece you pull out of the stack and actually look at for a minute.
Gold and silver have always been about value, but they’ve also always been about craftsmanship.

4. When I Catch a Really Good Price
Sometimes the most interesting thing isn’t the coin itself… it’s the price.
If I see something that looks unusually reasonable compared to the rest of the market, that usually gets my attention pretty quickly.
Stacking for a long time teaches you to recognize those little moments when something feels slightly underpriced or even just a good deal by buying bulk generic.
That’s when I tend to buy bigger amounts.

Gold and silver can be serious investments for some people.
For me, they’ve always been a mix of practicality and enjoyment.
Some pieces are purely about value.
Some are about design.
And some are just fun to own.
These are the ones that have caught my eye lately.
I’ll update this page whenever something new stands out.
